Anesthesia Options

Local Anesthesia Numbing injections given in appropriate area(s) Fully conscious No eating restrictions Take prescription meds as normal
Nitrous Oxide & Local Anesthesia Nitrous oxide given to relax, followed by numbing injections No eating restrictions unless instructed otherwise
Intravenous Sedation and General Anesthesia Medications given intravenously, numbing injections given while unconscious Unconscious or semi-conscious No food or drink at least 6 hours before surgery Prescription med usage determined prior to surgery and only with sip of water

If you choose to receive IV sedation or general anesthesia:

  • You must have a responsible adult with you to stay in the office during the procedure, drive you home, and spend the remainder of the day with you.
  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and remove all jewelry and nail polish. If you wear contact lenses, please remove them and wear your glasses to your appointment.
  • If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office.
